Investing.com – Canada equities were lower at the close on Monday, as losses in the , and sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Toronto, the fell 0.35%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the were ECN Capital Corp (TSX:), which rose 4.27% or 0.19 points to trade at 4.64 at the close. Pan American Silver Corp (TSX:) added 3.37% or 0.86 points to end at 26.40 and Bombardier Inc (TSX:) was up 2.54% or 0.050 points to 2.020 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Centerra Gold Inc (TSX:), which lost 11.44% or 1.30 points to trade at 10.06 in late trade. Cronos Group Inc (TSX:) declined 4.54% or 0.4100 points to end at 8.6200 and Gran Tierra Energy Inc (TSX:) shed 4.38% or 0.060 points to 1.310.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 629 to 432 and 118 ended unchanged on the Toronto Stock Exchange.
The , which measures the implied volatility of S&P/TSX Composite options, was down 9.65% to 11.52.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for February delivery was down 0.28% or 4.15 to $1468.55 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in January rose 1.47% or 0.81 to hit $55.98 a barrel, while the February Brent oil contract rose 0.79% or 0.48 to trade at $60.97 a barrel.
CAD/USD was down 0.15% to 0.7518, while CAD/EUR fell 0.72% to 0.6786.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.41% at 97.800.
